Whereas formal education doesn\u2019t recognize children\u2019s need for entertainment. Creative Education through Literature connects with children\u2019s emotions. It automatically draws them towards itself using stories, songs, and poems.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">What better way to learn the phoneme \/l\/ than to hear the stories of turtles and storks? (In Persian language, the words \u201cturtle\u201d and \u201cstork\u201d both start with \/l\/) That\u2019s exactly what the tutors at Kousha House for Children did.<\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">Below, you can read their report:<\/h4>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Center: Kousha House for Children, Tehran<\/li>\n<li>Age group: Preschool<\/li>\n<li>Learning Phonemic Awareness Skills \u2013 Teaching the phoneme \/l\/<\/li>\n<li>Duration: 2 days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #f15b40;\">Day 1<\/span><\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At first, we had a dialogue with the children. We asked them to guess which animal was our guest that day. They were full of guesses: whale, monkey, dog, chicken\u2026 Then we told them that our guest was a bird with long legs. Eventually, they guessed the intended bird (stork). Together with the children, we talked about stork\u2019s food, natural habitat, size, etc.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cStork builds its nest up high so that other animals can\u2019t eat its babies.\u201d Zahra said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWhen it wants to stand up, it has to be careful not to hit its head to the ceiling\u2026\u201d Fatemeh said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Then, we asked children to put their hand on their vocal cords and pronounce the phoneme \/l\/. Some of them mistook the shape of \u201cl\u201d with another letter. After some practice, they recognized the difference.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Following that, we read aloud the tale of \/l\/ phoneme from the Learning Phonemic Awareness Skills package. Children correctly responded to our questions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the end, we all played hopscotch together which the children liked very much. Most of them remembered that it was \/l\/. For a while, we talked about words that start with \/l\/.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Then, we distributed some dried orange peels among them that we had prepared beforehand, and asked what they thought we could make of them.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe could use them for Haft-Sin.\u201d, said Fatemeh.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe could use them as bowls and put pomegranate in them for Yalda Night\u201d, said Setayesh.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After a lively discussion, we decided to make turtles with the orange peels. Amir didn\u2019t like to participate in the activity and left the room.
