Even though COVID-19 has made social life extremely difficult,\u00a0 reading at home can still open up paths to knowledge and a shared joy of reading.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This year, with an emphasis on \u201cReading in Families\u201d, we start this year\u2019s read-aloud week with these words:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cFrom everywhere, every corner,<br \/>\nthe voice of our reading-aloud is heard.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It gives us hope, promise,<br \/>\nafter dark, comes light,<br \/>\nafter sorrow, comes joy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We invite all parents, teachers, librarians and enthusiasts to turn their homes into bases for reading promotion, fill their children with joy of reading and strengthen their bonds within their families.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>We suggest you to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Pick a book up and read-aloud to your children, if you are parents.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Engage all family members in your read-aloud activities.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Encourage older siblings to read-aloud to their younger siblings.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Have grandparents join your read-aloud sessions.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Hold online read-aloud sessions for families and talk to them about the importance of reading if you are teachers, librarians or promoters<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Spend time reading aloud to children within your relatives or friends and tell parents of the importance of reading in their children\u2019s all-rounded development.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">In regions where the pandemic situation has been controlled and gatherings are possible, throw read-aloud events using health protocols, preferably in open air.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Don\u2019t forget follow-up activities like role-playing, conversations, drawing, \u2026<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Don\u2019t forget children who can\u2019t benefit from the safety of a home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-62591\" src=\"https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/poster-read-aloud-week-english-2021-final-m.jpg\" alt=\"Read-aloud Week-21-28 January 2021-poster\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/poster-read-aloud-week-english-2021-final-m.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/poster-read-aloud-week-english-2021-final-m-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/poster-read-aloud-week-english-2021-final-m-768x1086.jpg 768w, https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/poster-read-aloud-week-english-2021-final-m-499x705.jpg 499w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You can share your read-aloud experiences in social media with the #read_aloud_week hashtag. If you want to be featured on our Instagram pages, please tag these two pages in the description box:<br \/>\n@koodaki_org<br \/>\n@khanak_org<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You can alternatively send your read-aloud experiences in picture, video or text format to our Telegram:<br \/>\n<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/Khanak_Archives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>https:\/\/t.me\/Khanak_Archives<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Why Read-aloud?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Read-aloud is an effective and enjoyable way to share books with children.<\/li>\n<li>Read-aloud is the best way to develop children\u2019s language skills<\/li>\n<li>Read-aloud from birth until the end of preschool can build the foundation for children\u2019s emergent literacy<\/li>\n<li>Children who are read-aloud to before entering school, are ahead in their studies.<\/li>\n<li>Children who haven\u2019t learned how to read will become interest in reading if they are read-aloud to.<\/li>\n<li>Read-aloud strengthens your bond with your child.<\/li>\n<li>Read-aloud has significant influence over children in crisis as it reduces anxiety and provides opportunities to heal their suffering minds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Read-aloud is the reading of books to children out loud and reflecting the ups and downs of the plot in one\u2019s voice. In many countries, a day or week has been allocated to reading aloud. In Iran, the Institute for Research on the History of Children\u2019s Literature, with its significant achievements through the Read with Me program, has allocated a week to reading aloud.
