In this lecture, on the subject of \u201cBig Themes for Small People\u201d, which is presented on the second day of the <strong>Read with Me<\/strong> conference she talks about her experience on sharing difficult issues with children through picture books. At the end of this lecture, the artist will sign books and posters illustrated by herself for the audience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Marit T\u00f6rnqvist is one of International Artists who support <strong>Read with Me<\/strong> project. The Astrid Lindgren\u2019s \u201cRed Bird\u201d, illustrated by Marit T\u00f6rnqvist, has been translated and published in 2014 in Farsi language in Iran by <em>IRHCL<\/em>\u00a0publishing house and it was entered in the books of <strong>Read with Me<\/strong> project. The Lindgren\u2019s family and Marit T\u00f6rnqvist donated the copyright of the book to the Institute to benefit <strong>Read with Me<\/strong> in deprived areas of Iran.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBigger than a Dream\u201d by Jef Aerts is another book illustrated by Marit T\u00f6rnqvist which has been published in Iran by <em>IRHCL<\/em>\u00a0publishing house and the copyright of the book in Iran has been donated to <strong>Read with Me<\/strong> project.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Bigger-than-a-dream.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7664\" src=\"https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Bigger-than-a-dream-221x300.jpg\" alt=\"Bigger than a dream\" width=\"221\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/parandeh-ghermez.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5723\" src=\"https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/parandeh-ghermez-218x300.jpg\" alt=\"The Red Bird, Read with Me selected Book\" width=\"218\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The two-day <strong>Read with Me<\/strong> Conference will be held by the<em> Institute for Research on the History of Children\u2019s Literature<\/em> on Reading Book Week (Nov.1-14th) in Tehran. In this conference, Jabbar Baghtcheban prize, which has been recently established by the <em>IRHCL<\/em>\u00a0and the financial support of Omran Azarestan Construction Company, will be awarded to 10 Reading Promoters-Teachers from remote areas of Iran.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #f15b40;\"><strong>Let\u2019s know more about Marit T\u00f6rnqvist<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Marit-T\u00f6rnqvist.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7668 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/readwithme.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Marit-T\u00f6rnqvist-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Marit T\u00f6rnqvist, Dutch dexterous illustrator and the Hans Christian Andersen nominee\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Marit T\u00f6rnqvist was born in Uppsala, Sweden in 1964. When she was five she moved to the Netherlands with her Dutch mother, Swedish father and her brother and sister.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From 1982 to 1987, she studied illustration at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, where her talent and unique style made an immediate impression.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Sweden, she was asked to illustrate Astrid Lindgren\u2019s work and so she gained a large audience outside the Netherlands and Flanders too. The press has described her work as \u201cimpressive and timeless\u201d, \u201ctechnically astonishing\u201d, \u201ccolourful, layered and full of emotion\u201d and as \u201ca personal universe\u201d. There are indeed many highlights in Marit T\u00f6rnqvist\u2019s oeuvre. Her illustrations reveal a great sensitivity to what goes on in the minds of young children. The door to childhood seems to have remained wide open for T\u00f6rnqvist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">T\u00f6rnqvist has said the following about her work: \u201cSometimes when I\u2019m drawing I feel as if there\u2019s a direct line from my heart to my hand. There\u2019s no intellect involved.
